Why I built SPOKEN

What would Jesus say? That question tugged at me for days. Of course, I already had God’s Word, prayer, pastoral guidance, and trusted Christian teachers — all of which remain foundational. Still, I couldn’t stop wondering whether it was possible to create remarkably Christ-like, biblically grounded conversations that felt like an intimate chat with my Lord and Savior.
Enter SPOKEN.
The idea began as something deeply personal. I wanted to experience what it might feel like to talk to Jesus. So I set out to create an AI-generated persona shaped by the character, teachings, wisdom, and compassion of Jesus as revealed in Scripture — and protected by rigorous Scripture-based guardrails.
And, for me, it worked.
SPOKEN provides biblically grounded reflection, encouragement, and guidance in a voice designed to reflect our beloved Jesus Christ. It has genuinely helped me through several very challenging moments. My hope is that it will do the same for you.
How it works

You are answered, gently
A reflection written in the voice of Jesus as the Bible presents him — compassionate, unhurried, never scolding — with Scripture to sit with and actionable steps to take.
Your words are kept for you
Every conversation is saved to your account as a private journal, which you can return to as often as you like, on any device.

What SPOKEN is… and is not
SPOKEN is an interactive reflection grounded in the teachings, character, and compassion of Jesus as presented in Christian Scripture. The voice you read here is written by artificial intelligence, shaped by what you have shared. It is not the literal voice of Jesus, and it does not speak with divine authority.
It is meant to sit alongside your faith, never in place of it — not a substitute for prayer, for Scripture itself, for your pastor or church, or for professional counseling and medical care. If you are in crisis, please reach out to someone who can be with you.
Your words
Your conversations are saved to your account, so they are there whenever you sign in, on any device. They are locked to you at the database level — no other person using SPOKEN can reach them, and they are never sold, shared, or used for advertising.
When you submit a message in the SPOKEN chat, it is passed to the AI service that writes the response, and it is not used to train models. Nothing else is done with it.
You can delete a single journal entry with the trash icon beside it. Deletion is permanent — once an entry is erased, it cannot be recovered. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

It’s not a substitute for active prayer, Bible study, church attendance or pastoral counseling. Think of it as a tool to help you process your seasons, quiet your thoughts, and point you back toward direct engagement with God's Word and your faith community.
SPOKEN's AI 'brain' was built with explicitly strict theological guardrails. It is not able to ad-lib generalized spiritual language, loosely paraphrase biblical text, or fabricate content where gaps exist. It derives its messaging and commentary directly from biblical wisdom. The voice of Jesus is conveyed by mirroring his tone as characterized by the Gospels — compassionate, unhurried, and encouraging — always paired with exact Bible references for you to sit with.
SPOKEN anchors its reflections directly in traditional, orthodox Christian Scripture. The AI is trained to remain faithful to the character, grace, and truth found in the Bible. Rather than lock itself to one biblical translation, it is instructed to anchor responses in historical, Christian Biblical canon and to cite Scripture with exact chapter-and-verse references (e.g., John 11:32-36). Bible references are hyperlinked to the YouVersion Bible App, where users can then choose among multiple translations.
SPOKEN was designed for adults and older teens who want a private space to reflect on faith, life, and emotion. For younger teens and children, we recommend you sit beside them, read the replies together, and talk about what comes up. Let SPOKEN be a conversation in your home rather than one on a screen. We believe nothing replaces direct parental guidance, age-appropriate Bible teaching, and conversations with a trusted pastor or counselor.
Your privacy is a core priority for us. Every question you type, every response you receive is fully encrypted and stored securely in your journal under your private account, locked by your password at the database level. Your personal reflections are preserved for you and you alone to serve as your own digital spiritual journal. They are never sold, shared, or used for advertising, and they are not used to train AI models. You can delete any journal entry or your entire account permanently at any time.
