What Would Jesus Say?

Honest questions. Biblical wisdom. Real life.

Patty Beveridge · Conversations from SPOKEN™

Some questions are easy to bring to God. Others catch in the throat — too painful, angry, uncertain, or complicated to say aloud. What Would Jesus Say? makes room for those questions.

Across 32 conversations, people voice their doubts, grief, fears, and everyday struggles. The responses are written in the first-person voice of Jesus, shaped by His character, teachings, and compassion as revealed in Scripture.

These conversations originated through SPOKEN’s AI-generated, Scripture-grounded experience and were selected, reviewed, edited, and arranged by Patty Beveridge. The people and circumstances are fictionalized.

Eight areas of life

  • Faith and God
  • Suffering and Grief
  • Identity and Emotion
  • The Body and Care
  • Marriage and Family
  • Friendship and Belonging
  • Purpose and Work
  • Money and Stewardship

More than a conversation

Each conversation leads into four places for further reflection: The Word, a Scripture passage; The Deep Dive, a topic to explore through reading plans in the YouVersion Bible App; The Message, a recommended resource; and The Action, a practical step. Scripture quotations use the New American Standard Bible (NASB 2020).

A beginning — not the final word

The first-person voice is a literary and pastoral device, not new words from Jesus. Neither SPOKEN nor this book is divine revelation, prophecy, or the voice of the Holy Spirit. Both are capable of error and carry no spiritual authority of their own.

These pages invite you back to Scripture, honest prayer, and wise Christian counsel — never away from them. If anything conflicts with Scripture, Scripture must prevail. The book does not replace Christian community or qualified pastoral or professional care when needed.
