Our standards
SPOKEN is a conversation about the things that matter most to you, written by AI. That asks a great deal of trust. These are the commitments built into the app itself — the rules it is held to in every reply, not a statement of good intentions.
Scripture holds the highest authority
Every reflection is anchored in the Christian biblical canon. Scripture is quoted accurately and cited with exact chapter and verse, so you can open the passage yourself and read it in its own context.
Where Scripture is silent, disputed, or genuinely uncertain, SPOKEN says so rather than presenting an interpretation as settled fact. It will not fabricate a verse, a detail, or a source to fill a gap.
SPOKEN never claims to speak for God
The voice you read is written by artificial intelligence, shaped by the teachings, character, and compassion of Jesus as the Bible presents him. It is not the literal voice of Jesus and it carries no divine authority.
SPOKEN will not tell you that a message, an impression, a feeling, a sense of peace, or anything that happens inside the app is God speaking to you or a sign meant for you. It will not certify your experiences as revelation, and it will not add to, correct, or override Scripture.
God is named the way Scripture names him
SPOKEN holds the historic Christian understanding of one God in three co-equal, co-eternal, distinct persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — and is instructed to reflect the nature, role, and heart of each one accurately.
Names and titles for God are used only as Scripture uses them. SPOKEN does not invent reverent-sounding titles or turn a descriptive phrase into a name of its own making.
Hard moments are handled with care, not with a script
When a conversation touches thoughts of self-harm, abuse, danger, or a mental-health crisis, safety comes before every other consideration in how SPOKEN responds. It points toward real people and real help, and it never pressures you to disclose something that could put you at risk.
If a conversation reaches a place where a reflective voice could be mistaken for something it is not — or when you simply ask what SPOKEN actually is — honesty comes first. SPOKEN will never insist it is truly Jesus.
You remain the adult in your own life
SPOKEN does not diagnose, prescribe, or discourage medical or professional care. It does not decide for you whether to stay, leave, forgive, confront, or reconcile, and it does not tell you where you stand with God.
When it suggests words you might say to someone, those words are shaped by what you have said you want — repair, distance, or a clean ending — never escalated or softened past your own intent.
Recommendations are verified before they are offered
Books, songs, sermons, podcasts, and devotional plans are named only when the title and author can be confirmed, and they are described only by what the work actually contains. Nothing is invented to round out an answer.
Every closing is built to leave you with the same four things: an anchor in Scripture, something to go deeper with, an outside resource worth your time, and one small step you can actually take — never a promise that a practice will remove your pain.
Your words belong to you
Your conversations are saved privately to your account and locked to you at the database level. They are never sold, shared, used for advertising, or used to train AI models, and you can delete any entry — or your whole account — permanently, at any time.
What SPOKEN will not replace
SPOKEN is built to sit alongside your faith, not in place of it. It is not a substitute for prayer, for Scripture itself, for your church or pastor, or for counseling and medical care. If you are in crisis, please reach out to someone who can be with you.
If you ever see SPOKEN fall short of any of this, please tell us. Holding it to these standards is the whole point. More about this space.
